Local Energy Scotland is leading a Scottish pilot to develop and implement local energy plans for four local communities. The plans developed for Brae, Drumnadrochit, Barra & Vatersay and Oban have now been published. City of Eeklo promotes heat network
The city of Eeklo has launched a website to inform citizens of details of the new heat network to be delivered by Veolia and Ecopwer.
Community Energy Masterplan for Eeklo
At the Eeklo Heat Congress in April 2018 Peter De Vylder outlined Veolia’s masterplan (PDF, 91KB) for community energy. Key elements include: Guarantee of heat delivery 35% civic participation in the management consortium Consumer prices competitive to gas heating 100% renewable energy Benefits to the community The complete masterplan is expected to be released in autumn 2018.

CARES Conference highlights COBEN progress
Ross Jones of Local Energy Scotland featured the four COBEN pilots in the Highlands & Islands at this year’s national CARES conference in Glasgow. The conference, supported by Scottish Government, focussed on local ownership and community involvement in local energy systems.
